During the interview, Dr. Herndon explained how the transition to a digital economy has transformed many industries, most notably traditional media. He used the newspaper industry as a case study, explaining that newspaper companies had tremendous vision, but failed to craft a strategy to profitably exploit the changes in the information and media economy.

Dr. Herndon's newspaper industry case study will be released in the summer of 2012 as a book by Peter Lang Publishing entitled "The Decline of the Daily Newspaper: How an American Institution Lost the Online Revolution."
