August 2012: TAG Retains Internet Decisions for 2013 State of the Industry: Technology in Georgia Report

Atlanta, GA (August 2, 2012) - The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state's leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia's technology industry, has retained Internet Decisions, LLC, to conduct the research for the 2013 "State of the Industry: Technology in Georgia Report." The new agreement marks the third consecutive year TAG and Internet Decisions have collaborated on the annual project.

Internet Decisions will use primary and secondary research methods to compile data that reflects how Georgia's technology industry is performing relative to key benchmark states. "This year's analysis will include more comparative data and provide a broader understanding how Georgia is faring against key economic rivals," said Keith Herndon, Ph.D., President of Internet Decisions. He explained that the report will compare technology in Georgia against five border states, five other states with similar economic output and the five largest state economies.

The report will be published in March as an interactive online scorecard designed by Arketi. The research findings also will be presented at the Georgia Technology Summit in March.

"We are excited about the deeper level of analysis we are planning for this important research initiative, and we are delighted that our relationship with Internet Decisions is continuing. Dr. Herndon brings extensive experience in technology operations and research to this project," said Tino J. Mantella, President and Chief Executive Officer of TAG.

A survey of key technology decision makers throughout Georgia again will be a key component of the overall research. "It is very important that we systematically tap into the thinking of our state's technology leaders," said Mr. Mantella. "This annual survey allows us to understand better the important technology issues that shape our programs and guide our messages to policy makers." In conducting the survey, Internet Decisions again will partner with Marietta-based CSM Research, which will assist with data collection using proprietary online survey tools.

Mr. Mantella said a goal of the annual State of the Industry Report is to help explain the significance of the technology sector within Georgia's economy. "Our research has found that technology's economic impact was more than $113 billion in this state last year and that it directly accounted for 253,000 jobs and indirectly supported more than 400,000 additional jobs," he said.
